Hey all, I’m Amelia and I hail from the snowy North. I am a draw-er and an animat-or working mostly in small formats with everything from kids’ watercolor sets to vintage fabric swatches. I’m inspired by old photographs and what they can and can’t tell us, South American authors, and ghost stories. I’m very interested in collaborating with musicians on my next few animations. This week our friend Jorge (Jito) Katawala is releasing his full album on the Full Deck Project, head over to the Full Deck Project to download the whole thing. Family Trees Joel Dahl produced the record, and Jorge has one of the best voices I’ve heard in a while.

For Full Deck this week we are pulling out a real old track from the De Novo Dahl vault. Mishka is a track off of the very first ep, and it is up on the Full Deck Project now.

Ric Gets Ghost

For those who don’t know, both in and out of Family Tree, our boy Ricardo Alessio is headed west. He’ll be leaving on Wednesday the 26th, thus on Monday the 24th at FooBar we’ll be having a going away show with/for him. Ric obviously plays with everyone, and so he’ll get one more go around with us as a salient “adieu.”

Here’s to a dying art, the intimate ritual, a reflection of what we already carry inside of us: the lumbering, the tender mercies, the endless fortitude. Richard – a novice farmer, bartender, and writer – has a book of poetry out on Blacktooth Records entitled, “Palimpsest” and a forthcoming novella, “The Field, or, Not Much Worth Saving Except Bird Nests and Fox Holes” with illustrations by Luke Howard of Snowcatpress. He’s currently working on a novel about some boys and a girl, New Orleans, Nashville, and nudity. It’s gonna take him a while, but that’s ok.

It takes a whole city to build a good art community. Nashville has its ups and downs as far as the art scene is concernerd, but one group that has always done well at promoting talented local artists is The Rabbit Press. If you are not familiar with these guys you need to “leave your hole and live your life” as they would put it. They publish an awesome art zine here in Nashville, and also throw some awesome art shows and events.

All of this to say is they are asking people to take a quick survey to help them restructure and meet their goals next year. If you care about the arts in Nashville go do it.
